PVEC Petition

As most of our members will be aware, our Chairman, Geof owns an preserved ex-Police Land Rover Discovery and is a member of the Police Vehicle Enthusiasts' Club - www.pvec.net.

There was a recent case where a Member of PVEC was stopped by the police and found guilty of having Blue emergency lights fitted to his preserved police vehicle, even though the lights were covered over whilst the vehicle was on the public highway.

Our Colleagues at PVEC and of course many other preserved vehicle clubs and organisations would be very grateful for your help.

Dear PVEC members.

A PVEC member recently had an issue while driving a vehicle with blue lights fitted, despite the fact that they were covered, see Sidestripe for the full story.

However, the Management Committee of PVEC would like to enlist your help if you are able. We would like you to tell everyone that you know that has internet access about this online petition, http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/blue-lights

If you are a member of any other club which is in any way car related, please pass this email to the webmaster for that club. Les Duggins, one of our Committee, is also a member of the Rover P6 club, and has placed the following on their web page.

This issue does not only affect the small number of members of PVEC that own and run preserved vehicles, but emergency vehicle preservation as a whole. By creating this petition, we have a very small chance of getting the issue noticed by the people that count, our Government, that are elected to serve us, the British public. By publicising this petition to everyone that we know, we have more chance of getting even more signatures, and the more of those we get, the higher up the list our petition moves.

Thank you for your time, and your continued support of PVEC.
